THE SELF PORTRAIT CHALLENGE (SPC)

Yes, the SELF PORTRAIT CHALLENGE. Where do I begin with this one? This is something I have been pondering participating in for a long time but have never gotten the guts or the courage to dive in until now. There is a website, the SPC website, that explains the motive behind photographers such as myself that are jumping on the bandwagon and participating in this self portrait challenge each week. As stated on the SPC blog itself, the aim of the site is to create a community - an online community of people participating in a continuous artistic self-expressive art project. To give a voice to those who want to speak. To encourage self-analysis and self-expression and self-exploration in people who would normally not be able to or don’t have a venue or audience for such. To encourage people to challenge their personal boundaries
To free up inhibitions and allow that inner hidden something to be occasionally seen. Therefore, each week, you are given a new theme from the SPC website. For example, this weeks theme was "Celebrate." So...you, as the photographer, are supposed to use your creativity and find a way to include yourself in a photo that depicts something you want to "celebrate."
In my photos, don't laugh now...I told you I'm new at this. In my photos, I'm choosing to celebrate a good, funky, trendy, pair of shoes. HA! I'm celebrating "Steve Madden" for goodness sakes - and his ability to design and create the best looking shoes a woman can buy. I'm celebrating zebra prints because everyone that is a stalker or follower of my blog knows how much I love anything with zebra or leopard print on it. (I'm more partial to zebra these days though) I'm celebrating what women endure in order to wear a pair of heels - wedge heels at that. I'm embracing and celebrating it all. Ha ha!
So...just bare with me as I try desperately to jump in and become creative when it comes to the weekly SPC challenges. I'm looking forward to what it can do for my creativity as well as what it can do for me in regards to overcoming my inhibitions relating to my "SELF" in a portrait. God help us if the weekly challenge ever has anything to do with the nose. If that happens, I think I'll play hookie and skip out on that week. ;)
All in fun,
Angie Seaman

I know I asked before, but what kind of software do you use to get your name on there? I love your photos. You really do have a talent for it =) I guess you are loving your camera, huh?

When and where can I practice on your family? I was thinking a day at the park with the family. Bring a picnic, play and pretend I'm not there....whatcha think?

I love your self portraits. Especially the first one, though the stitching on your pocket is a fun element in the second one. What a great way to challenge yourself with your new camera.
